Access Energy Scholarship-Applicant’s Parent or legal guardian must be members of Access Energy Cooperative.   • Sheridan-Setterberg Memorial Trust Scholarship: One scholarship for students enrolled at an accredited College, University, Community College and one scholarship awarded for a student attending a Vocational-Technical training school. No restriction on field of study. Should be a graduate of Des Moines County. Based on financial need, academic records and achievements. May be renewable.
  • Kenneth Cooksey/Norma Cook Memorial Scholarship: A 4 year scholarship, awarded to worthy students based solely on their academic achievements and record and no weight shall be given to the financial needs of the students or their families.
First Friday Breakfast Club-Applicant must be a graduating senior and resident of Iowa and plan to pursue post-secondary education. Grinnell Mutual Road to Success.  Applicant must be a high-school senior who is currently insured through a personal auto policy with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company or Grinnell Select Insurance Company, or Is a dependent named on a Grinnell Mutual or Grinnell Select Insurance Company insurance policy. Patrick Joseph Lietsch Memorial Scholarship  -Applicant must be a high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Helen Raider Memorial Trust Scholarship   -Available to students planning to pursue post-education. The following are taken into account: GPA, School and Community Activities, and a 100-word essay. Southeast Iowa Builders Association Construction Scholarship -Applicants must enroll as a full-time student in Construction Management/Engineering/Technology Program or similar. Tri-Rivers Conservation Foundation Director’s Scholarship  -Offered to graduates of a Louisa Resource Area school. This encompasses a little bit bigger circle that includes Louisa County residents and surrounding communities who will be attending any college, university or technical school (note – the Paris Scholarship requires candidates attend an Iowa school). Study emphasis must lead to a degree in natural resources or conservation; or in another field, such as education. Candidates with a study emphasis outside of natural resources/conservation must provide either professional or personal justifications for how their emphasis of study will meet the scholarship objectives. Tri-Rivers Conservation Foundation William J. Paris Conservation Scholarship -The selected candidate must be a graduate of a Louisa County high school or a Louisa County resident planning to attend an Iowa college, university or technical school. Study emphasis must lead to a degree in a natural resources/conservation; or in another field, such as education. Iowa State University: ACACIA Leadership Scholarship  -Designed to identify and rewards outstanding high schools who demonstrated their ability in academics, extracurricular activities and community involvement.  Available to any male graduating senior from an accredited high school who attends Iowa State University.  Applications are available via PDF or in the counseling office. Deadline: March 23, 2018.
Iowa State University: Beta Sigma Psi: Darryl John Memorial Scholarship-The Alumni of Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran fraternity is offering scholarships to Lutheran gentlemen entering Iowa State University in the fall of 2018. Altrusa International Scholarship (Burlington, Iowa)    -This service organization offers a scholarship to any school or any career based on an average grade point average, financial need, character and leadership. Edward B. Gnahn Memorial Scholarship  -Available to any person training and expecting to work in a health related field of study. Gnahn Memorial Scholarship Disabled Persons -Available to a disabled person whose disability is such that a higher education in any field of study would provide and opportunity for a productive life. Iowa Hospital Association Health Care Careers Scholarship –Applicant must be enrolled in a qualified health care career programwith graduation between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020.  Applicant must also be willing to work in an Iowa hospital for one year after graduation.  Application is online only.  Deadline: March 30, 2018.
Mitch King’s Extra Heartbeat Scholarship  -Mitch was an 1st Team all-state football player at Burlington High School.  He then attended University of Iowa and started at Defensive Tackle for four years.  He ended his college career as the “The Defensive Lineman of the Year” in the Big Ten.  Mitch then went on to play in the NFL for four season.  His NFL experience includes the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints.  Mitch was considered a player that had an extra passion for the game.  This scholarship will be granted to those who demonstrate a similar passion for sports and the intangibles you acquire through athletics.  This scholarship is open to students in these Iowa Counties . University of Iowa ACACIA Thomas H. Macbride Leadership Scholarship – Available to any male, graduating senior who attends The University of Iowa. The scholarship is awarded by the Alumni of ACACIA Fraternity. Preference for the scholarship is given to students associated with the Fraternity. Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship  -Applicant must be a graduate of a Des Moines County high school who is an undergraduate education major. Iowa Recycling Association: Diane Albertson Memorial-Scholarship   -The scholarship will be awarded to one or more students with a demonstrated interest in environmental action, especially as related to recycling and waste reduction. The number of scholarship awards is based on the availability of funds. Iowa Branch of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons Dr. Jennie McCowen Scholarship  -This scholarship is offered through the Iowa Branch of the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons and is for students who are enrolled in course in the medical field. SFM Foundation Scholarship -Must be the natural, adopted, step-child or full dependent of a worker injured or killed in a work-related accident during the course and scope of employment with a Minnesota-, Wisconsin-, or Iowa-based employer and entitled to receive benefits under the Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Act, Worker’s Compensation Act of Wisconsin or Iowa’s workers’ compensation law. Must be a Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa resident between the ages of 16 and 25 at the time of the application. Must have a high school diploma, GED or be a high school student in good standing. Academic achievement, aptitude, extracurricular activities, and community service of the applicant are considered. Grade point average will be reviewed against the number of hours the applicant works and his/her community involvement. Must be pursuing a primary college or university degree (bachelor’s or associate’s) or vocational education and training (certificate or license) from any accredited school. Children’s Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarship -Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer (including individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18 or a sibling of that individual). Robert D. Blue Scholarship -The applicant must be an Iowa resident planning to attend an Iowa college/university during the 2018-2019 school year. The applicant can be a current high school senior or someone already enrolled in a college/university. The Robert D. Blue Scholarship awards students who demonstrate literary and scholastic ability; exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character. Morning Sun Tiger Pride Scholarship  -Applicants must have completed 6th grade at Morning Sun Elementary.  Applications are available via pdf or in the counseling office.  Deadline: Postmarked no later than May 31, 2018.
Iowa PGA Charlie Burkart Scholarship –  Open to any graduating senior whose parent(s) are members of a club/course employing a PGA member or registered apprentice of the Iowa Section. Nursing Schools Almanac: Aspiring Nurse Scholarship -This scholarship competition is open to all U.S. high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Applicants must be in good academic standing and on track to graduate from high school at the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year. Application is online only. Deadline: August 31, 2018.

Iowa State University scholarships automatically awarded at the point of admission

Academic Recognition Award (ARA) Awarded to all Iowa residents who have been offered admission to Iowa State as freshmen entering directly from high school and who rank in the top 15% of their graduating class.

  • ARA Level I: $6,000 ($1,500 per year for 4 years) – Requirement: rank in the top 10% of graduating class or rank position 1 or 2.
  • ARA Level II: $5,000 ($1,250 per year for 4 years) – Requirement: rank between the top 11th through 15th percentile of class.

Iowa State University: President’s Award for Competitive Excellence Awarded to all Iowa residents who are offered admission to Iowa State as freshmen entering directly from high school and who have successfully completed the college preparatory curriculum, including cumulative grade point average and test score.  An ACT of at least 28 and GPA of 3.30 or higher is required.

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation  -This is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Hagan Scholarship Foundation: The Hagan Scholarship is a need-based merit scholarship for high achieving, self-motivated students in need of financial assistance to attend college. Iowa State University: Thelma V. and John T McColm Scholarship – This scholarship is based on academic merit and financial need. To be considered, students must complete the online scholarship application (FinAidScholar), file a FAFSA, and have an offer of admission to Iowa State University. Priority will be given to graduates of West Liberty or L & M High School. Second priority will be given to applicants from Muscatine or Louisa County. GE Star Awards: -Open to high school seniors who are children of eligible GE employees and retirees worldwide. The purpose is to defray first-year higher education expenses. Recipients, chosen through a selective application process, are awarded a one-time award in one of two categories: 4-Year Category or 2-Year Category: Application is online only.  Deadline: December 15,  2017.
Iowa Women in Natural Resources Scholarship  -This non-gender-based scholarship opportunity is for students planning or attending an Iowa university, college, or community college in the school year of 2018-2019; Pursuing a career in a natural resources field; Currently working on a conservation project or are planning to work on one; Willing to present project at IWINR’s annual conference. Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) E. Wayne Cooley Scholarship  The recipient of this award is recognized as being representative of the most elite of the superlative Iowa Girl, not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom, in her school and in her community. Her profile will reflect discipline, perseverance, character, citizenship and leadership, which personified the life and expectations of E. Wayne Cooley. Each high school is limited to one nomination. It is the responsibility of the local school to determine how the nominee is selected. The criteria for the award are as follows: Cumulative High School GPA of at least 3.75 . Minimum ACT score of 25. Must have participated in at least two sports each year of high school. Shall have earned at least one varsity letter in a minimum of two sports. Must be enrolled full-time in an IGHSAU member school. Must be an Iowa resident. Must attend an Iowa college or university. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship  –To be eligible for this award, applicants must: demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship; demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent); be citizens of the United States of America; be current high school seniors and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year. In addition, semi finalists must be nominated by an eligible community leader, such as a high school principal, elected official or executive director of a nonprofit organization, and must provide documentation to certify academic performance and financial need. Muscatine Chapter of the Iowa Engineering Society.  -All applicants must intend to earn a degree in engineering and must attend either the University of Iowa or Iowa State University in the fall of 2018. Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship    -Every year, the Better Business Bureau Education Foundation proudly recognizes five high school seniors from greater Iowa and 3 seniors from the Quad Cities who personify sound ethical behavior and decision making in their leadership roles at school and in their community All applicants must be recommended by a school official. Only one application per school will be accepted. Applicant must be a high school senior scheduled to graduate in 2018. Applicant must be from BBB Serving Greater Iowa, Quad City and Siouxland Region service area. Application Online Only.  Deadline: January 21, 2018.  
National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholarship   -Applicant must be a senior in high school, must have achieved at least two (2) of the following: (a) minimum of B+ average; (b)ranked in the top 25% of class; (c) ACT score of 24 or an SAT score of 1100 (Math and Reading), must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport, must have earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports, must complete attached scholar/essay application, must have a letter of recommendation from the high school athletic administrator/director. School athletic administrator/director must be an NIAAA member and a member of their respective state athletic administrators association. The principal or athletic administrator/director must sign the application to ensure that the academic information submitted is accurate. College Raptor Scholarship -To enter the scholarship contest, each student conducts a college search on CollegeRaptor.com that is designed to present college options that match a student’s individual academic, cultural, and financial circumstances in addition to exploring the true cost of their education. Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC)  -The NROTC is offering a scholarship to students who are interested in joining the NROTC.  Senior students must have a  minimum ACT Math score of 21 and minimum ACT English Score of 22 AND 47 Combined (Math plus English).  Seniors must also plan to participate in a NROTC college or university.    Click here to download an application information checklist.  Application is online only. River Valley Cooperative Scholarship –Awarded to area high school seniors pursuing four-year degrees in agriculture related fields or pursuing two-year degrees in agriculture related fields at Black Hawk East College, Kirkwood Community College, or Muscatine Community College. Scholarships are available to students who live within River Valley Cooperative’s trade area, however applicants do not have to be a member of River Valley Cooperative to be eligible. Awards are based on scholastic achievement, demonstration of community and school involvement, knowledge of the cooperative system, and the perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future. Applicants must complete an application form, four essay questions, and provide two letters of recommendation along with a high school or college transcript.
